Dorothy Williams Scarborough, 82, was called home by our heavenly father on Thursday morning, December 31, 2015 at her home. Born August 15, 1933, in Kershaw County, she was the daughter of the late Dan and Maggie Boykin Bennette. Dot was a member of Union Baptist Church, which was her family church. She later moved her membership to Bethel AME Church. She was a homemaker and a caregiver. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Joe Nathanial Scarborough; her children, Maggie (Randolph) Dinkins of Rembert, Mary Boykin of the home, Shirley Mae Williams of Saint George, Earl (Corine) Williams of Sumter, James Hamp Williams of the home, Martha (Larry) Stuckey of Sumter, James Edward Williams of the home, Charles (Sandra) Williams of Sumter and Debra (William) Truesdale of Lumberton, NC; twenty five grandchildren; thirty four great grandchildren; one sister, Corine (Tee) Martin of Rembert; one niece, Debra Martin; one nephew, Kelly Martin; a special friend, Hattie Mae King; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2016, 2:00 p. m., from the Union Baptist Church, 5840 Springhill Road, Rembert, with the Rev. Walter Robertson III, pastor, and the Rev. Davie Brown, eulogist. The family is receiving friends at her home, 432 Charlotte Avenue, Sumter and the home of her daughter, Martha Stuckey, 8 Spring Street, Sumter. The Remains will be placed in the church for viewing at 1:00 p. m. The procession will leave from her home at 1:15 p. m. Floral bearers and Pall bearers will be family and friends. Burial will be in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
