Willie Edward Wells, 61, departed this life on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at Crystal Health and Rehabilitation Facility, Greenwood, MS. Born in Clarendon County, November 29, 1954, he was the son of the late James Wells, Sr. and Lillie Mae Wells. “Bubbie”, as he was affectionately known, received his education in the public schools of Sumter County, and later enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He was employed with Wal-Mart in Indianola, MS until his health failed. Willie received Christ in his later years. He leaves to cherish his memories: his companion, Claudia Jackson of Indianola, MS; the mother of his children, Doris D. Shephard of Trenton, NJ; his children, Nikki Prince of Atlanta, GA, Willie T. (Trenice) Shephard, Antonio D. Shephard, Lorenzo M. (Nicole) Shephard, Andre L. (Chantal) Shephard, Reggie T. Shephard and Emily E. Shephard, all of Trenton, NJ, Willie Cooper of Princeton, NJ, Princess Jones of Indianola, MS; thirteen grandchildren; two step daughters, Stacey Jackson and Precious Jones of Indianola, MS; two brother, James Wells, Jr. (Deborah) of Alcolu, Johnny L. Wells (Daisy) of Sumter; five sisters, Pastor Carolyn Wells, Loris Gallishaw (Eugene), Cathy Wells, Linda Wells, all of Sumter, Emily Scott (Frankie) of Dalzell; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and devoted friends. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016, 1:00 p. m., from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Pastor Carolyn Wells and the Rev. A. J. McKnight officiating, eulogists. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Loris and Eugene Gallishaw, 10 Corona Court, Highway 15 North, Sumter. The funeral procession will leave the home at 12:20 p.m. Floral bearers and Pall bearers will be Family and Friends. Interment will be in the Barfield Cemetery, Alcolu.
