Jennie “Koffee” Chatmon, 65, departed this earthly life on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Palmetto Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Born in Rembert, October 15, 1950, he was the son of the late James Williams and Mary Sanders Chatmon. He earned his education in the public schools of Sumter County and was a 1971 graduate of Hillcrest High School. He was employed with various companies throughout his lifetime. Of those jobs, he worked for Santee Print for 13 years and was currently employed with the Sumter School District as Head Custodian at Pocalla Elementary. Though he had many duties at Pocalla, one of his favorites was directing traffic in the mornings and afternoons. He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughters, Lakeisha Clark of St. Charles, Valerie (Michael) Cantey of Sumter, Crisie (Kelvin) Gipson-Smith of Columbia, Cassandra (Bishop Harold) Bennett and Blair Britton of Sumter, Tysherriah Chatmon of Florence and Takia Samuel of Sumter; his sons, Norris (Crystal) Thomas of Atlanta, GA, Robbie White of Wilmington, NC, Justin Monroe and Travis Robinson of Sumter; his siblings, Mary L. (Rev. Eddie) Davis of Jackson, MS, Etta Chatmon of Jonesboro, GA, Gloria Chatmon of Brooklyn, NY, Geraldine (Ralph) Kressel of McDonough, GA, Ann C. Linder of College Park, GA and Walter Chatmon of Rembert; sixteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five honorary children and grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016, 11:00 a. m., from the Lakewood High School Auditorium, 350 Old Manning Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Edward Sanders, eulogist, Minister Cee’Jay McFadden, worship leader. The family is receiving friends and relatives at the home of his daughter, Valerie Cantey, 441 East Charlotte Avenue, Sumter. The Remains will be placed in the auditorium at 10:00 a. m. The funeral procession will leave from the home of his daughter at 10:20 a. m. Floral bearers will be Staff of Pocalla and friends of the family. Pall bearers will be Sons and Staff of Pocalla. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park, 802 North Guignard Drive, Sumter
