Annette Baker, 82, departed this earthly life on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Palmetto Health-Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Born in Lee County, March 25, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Burrell Sr. and Elvire Dixon Baker. She attended the Lee County Public schools. Annette was employed at MAFCO in McBee for several years. Later, she became a domestic engineer and served two sets of McCutchen families and then the Varn family until she retired. She was a lifelong member of Mechanicsville United Methodist Church. She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Alexander (Josephine) Baker of Columbia, Bobby (Teresita) Baker of San Diego, CA; one daughter, Ruby Jean Baker of the home; also the children she reared as her own, Ernest Baker, Betty Frierson and Elizabeth (Walter) Charles, Sr., all of Bishopville; two sisters, Alberta McQuillar and Elouise Abraham, both of Bishopville; one brother, Walter Baker; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Home Going services will be held Friday, July 22, 2016, 11:00 a. m., from the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church, 184 Lake Ashwood Road, Bishopville, with the Rev. Ronnie Jeffcoat, pastor, the Rev. Alexander Baker (son), pastor of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Sumter, eulogist, assisted by the Rev. Roberta Josey, Rev. Kenneth Carter, Rev. Eugene Rush and Elder Jacobee Pratt. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 600 Mt. Lisbon Road, Bishopville. The Remains will be placed in the church at 10:00 a. m. The procession will leave the home at 10:30 a. m. Floral bearers and Pall bearers will be family and friends. Burial will be in the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
