Ozzie (Osie) Gary, 62,entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 11, 2009 at Tuomey Health Care System, Sumter.

 

Born August 5, 1947, in Newberry County, she was the daughter of the late James and Mattie Brown Gary.

At an early age, she joined Calvary United Presbyterian Church in Newberry. She attended Newberry County schools and graduated from Gallman High School in 1965. She later moved to Alexandria, VA, where she lived and worked for over 30 years. In 2002, she returned to South Carolina.

Ozzie will forever be remembered by her devoted sister, Jannie Gary White; a close first cousin, Willie James Route (Fannie) of Whitmire; nephew, George Randolph White of Charleston; niece, Jennifer Elaine White, and grandnephew, Wesley Jamison White, both of Sumter; godson, George Randolph of Alexandria, VA; two aunts, Maybelle Sanders and Maggie Whitehurst, both of Alexandria, VA; and countless other family and friends whom were blessed to know her.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m., Wednesday, December 16, 2009 from the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc. 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Davie Brown, pastor of Bethel A. M. E. Church, officiating, eulogist, assisted by Rev. Robert E. Galloway.

 

The family will received friends at the home of her sister, Jannie Gary White 248 Wildwood Avenue, Sumter.

The funeral procession will leave from the home of her sister at 1:30 p. m.

Floral Bearers and Pall Bearers will be family and friends of the family.

Burial will be in the Walker Cemetery, Sumter.
