Daniel Ritter, 66, husband of Susie M. Simon Ritter, answered to the beckoning call of his Savior on Monday, December 14, 2009 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter, after a period of illness.

Born February 4, 1943, in Bamberg, he was a son of the late Chester Ritter and Ruth Orr Ritter.

Daniel was educated in the public schools of Brooklyn, NY. He was a believer in God and attended the Pentecostal House of Prayer, Inc. with Bishop L. Walton, and the Pentecostal House of Prayer of Deliverance with Bishop McKinley Green of Brooklyn, NY. He retired as a food processor from the Supreme Oil Company, Englewood, NJ, after 30 years of service and moved to Sumter.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted and loving wife, Susie M. Simon Ritter; one son, Alton (Yolonda) Ritter; three daughters, Mamie Smith, Kaytina Simon of Sumter, and Tory Simon of Jacksonville, FLA; six grandchildren, Cherell, Jhane’, and Alton Ritter, Jr. of Yonkers, NY, Sharon and Eric Smith of Sumter, and Taron Ritter of Brooklyn, NY; two great grandchildren, Pamela Simon of Jacksonville, FLA, and Kaylecia Simon of Sumter; four sisters, Amanda Evans, Evelyn Brown of Bamberg, Dorothy Ritter and Patricia Ritter of Brooklyn, NY; eight brothers, James Odomes, Andrew Ritter of Brooklyn, NY, William Ritter of Staten Island, NY, George (Renee) Ritter, Frank (Flora) Ritter of Orangeburg, Ronald (Beth) Ritter of North, Kenneth Ritter, Darryl Ritter of Bamberg; one sister-in-law, Rebecca Simon of Sumter; one brother-in-law, James (Kami) Simon of Hope Mill, NC; host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brothers, Chester Ritter, Jr., and one sister, Deloris Ritter.

 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P. M., Saturday, December 19, 2009 from the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church, 184 Lake Ashwood Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Kenneth Neal Carter, Pastor, Bishop McKinley Green, officiating, eulogist, assisted by Elder Janie Dingle, Bishop Preston Goodwin and Rev. Henry Cabbagestalk.

 

The family will receive friends at the family home 3080 Homestead Road, Sumter.

The Remains will be placed in the church 1:00 P. M.

The Funeral procession will leave from the family home at 1:20 p. m.

Floral bearers will be Judy Brunson, Annie Fortune, Earnestine Jenkins, Mable McLeod, Janet K. Greene, and Nadine McCollum.

Pallbearers will be Dwight Greene, Sammie Greene, John Dingle, Herbert Gallishaw, Herbert L. Cabbagestalk, Joseph Johnson and Bernard Jenkins.

 Burial will be in the St. Paul Holiness Church Cemetery, Martin Town Road, Sumter.
