Jeffery Leroy Portee, 51, affectionately known as Jeff-Leroy to many, entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia. Born November 22, 1965, in Sumter County, he was the son of the late Richard Murphy and Mary W. Portee. He attended the public schools of Sumter County. After school he went into the work force, where he had several jobs in construction for many years until his health failed. Even though his health started too declined he still tried to do varies jobs. He leaves to cherish his memories: four brothers, Arthur Portee, Harry Womack, Richard Portee and James Portee; two sisters, Gloria Portee and Linder Mickens (Orlando); his special friend, Tracy and her children that he loved as his own, Sharon, Angel, Prince and Jermaine; three he considered his grandchildren, Baron, Shaniyah and Aubrianna; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017, 12:00 noon, from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Minister Jake Sanders III, officiating, eulogist. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 4005 Highway 261 North, Rembert. The Procession will leave from the home at 11:20 a. m. Burial will be in the Rafting Creek Baptist Church yard Cemetery, 3860 Highway 261 North, Rembert.
