Rosa Lee James Green, 93, widow of Charlie Green, departed this earthly life on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Palmetto Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Born January 26, 1924, in Lee County, she was the daughter of the late Octavia James. She was educated in the public schools of Lee and Sumter counties. At an early age she joined Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church, where she served as a member of the Women Missionary Society (Sumter Unit). She enjoyed watching Braves Baseball, Wheel of Fortune, putting puzzles together and reciting the 23 Psalm. She leaves to cherish her memories: four daughters, Annie Green of the home, Sallie Lowery of Sumter, Elease (Charles) McDaniel of Dalzell and Bettie (Nicholas) Anderson of Goose Creek; one son, John (Michelle) Green of Woodbury, NJ; a devoted daughter-in-law, Maggie Green; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at her home, 80 Mickens Street, Sumter. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2017, 11 a. m. from the Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church, 2738 Woodrow Road, Woodrow, with the Rev. Dr. Friendly J. Gadson, pastor, eulogist. The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a. m. The procession will leave the home at 10:20 a. m. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Memorial Garden, Pear Street, Sumter.
