Doretha Davis McLeod, 70,departed this life on Monday, January 18, 2010 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter.

Born April 15, 1939, in Richland County, she was the daughter of the late Albert Davis, Sr. and Fannie English Davis.

"Bue", as she was affectionately known, attended the public schools of Sumter County.

She became a member of Joshua Baptist Church at an early age and later joined the Mt. Sinai Holiness Church. She became an active and cherished member, where she continued her spiritual growth until she became incapacitated.

Doretha was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Algie James McLeod. She was the mother of 18 children.

She was employed at Campbell Soup Company. Due to the illness of her husband, she took an early leave to care for him.

She leaves to cherish her memories: eighteen children, Loretta Davis of Columbia, Ann (Eddie) Cooks, Kenyona McLeod of Sumter, Belva Wheeler, Mary McLeod, Ernestine Wilson of Dalzell, Helen Everett, Glenda ( Joseph) Pressley, Sr., Tabatha, Joy, Geraldine McLeod, all of Rembert, Alta McLeod of Newark, NJ, Herman (Lamica) McLeod of Kershaw, James (Claire) McLeod of Raleigh, NC, Henry (Vicky) McLeod of Landover, MD, Samuel (Dorothy) McLeod of Virginia Beach, VA, Wilbert Lewis McLeod of Oklahoma City, OK, and Arnold McLeod of Rembert; two brothers, Albert Davis, Jr. of Long Island, NY, James Jefferson of Dalzell; one sister, Mable (Drake) Rivers of New York; 42 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; 9 sisters-in-law; 5 brothers-in-law; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p. m., Saurday, January 23, 2010 from the Joshua Baptist Church 5200 Live Oak Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Eugene Dennis, pastor, Minister Rickey Mickens, Assistant Pastor of Mt. Sinai Holy Temple of Deliverance officiating, eulogist, assisted by Elder Jerry McCall, Elder Clarence McCall, and Rev. T. A. Johnson, Sr.


The family will receive friends at the family home 4415 Furmanfield Road, Rembert.

The Remains will be placed in the church at 12:30 p. m.

The Funeral procession will leave from the family home at 12:50 p. m.

Floral bearers will be friends of the family.

Pall bearers will be grandsons and friends of the family.

Burial will be in the Joshua Baptist Church Yard Cemetery, Dalzell.
