Henry Reuben Singleton, husband of Linnie Mae Singleton, was born on May 4, 1944 in Greeleyville, to the late Reverend Joseph Singleton and Lauritha Clark Singleton. He departed this life on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Palmetto Health Tuomey in Sumter. Henry was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg and Sumter Counties. At an early age, he joined Trinity Baptist Church in Greeleyville. He was employed by Korn Industries for several years prior to becoming self-employed and operating a towing service. He enjoyed working on cars and socializing with family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memories; his devoted wife of 36 years, Linnie Mae Singleton; three sons, Philip(Pamela) McCollough, MSgt, USAF, Retired of Sumter, Lewis (Margery) Singleton, CMSgt, USAF, Retired of Riverview, FL and Dennar Hickmon of Bishopville; two daughters, Lauritha (Adolph) McGhaney and Mary Elizabeth Singleton, SMSgt, USAF, Retired all of Sumter; five brothers, Joseph ( Sharon) Singleton, Anthony (Marie) Singleton both of Cocoa, FL, Tex Arnold Singleton of Jackson, MS, Malachi Singleton of Bethlehem, PA and Charles Gregory (Shari) Singleton of Columbia; two sisters, Doris Delinda Singleton and Mary Bernadean (Donald) Little, both of Sumter; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two aunts, Freda Singleton of Cocoa, FL and Sarah Jane Clark of Manning; mother-in-law, Beatrice Dinkins; two brothers-in-law , Ollie Dinkins, Jr. and Frank (Mary) Sanders; ten sisters-in-law, Martha Singleton, JudyStevens, Gladys Williams, Genovia (Jimmie III) Dennis, Gloria Dinkins, Jacqueline Dinkins, Kathy English, Tracey (Roosevelt) Nelson, Ethel Dinkins, Jduna Dinkins; two life-long friends, David Chatman and Herbert Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by two brothers, Amos McKinley Singleton and James Gladden Singleton. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 120 Byrd Street, Sumter. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 - 11 a. m. from the Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, 805 South Harvin Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. Marion Newton, Senior pastor, the Rev. Frank Williams, Jr., pastor of Faith Baptist Church, eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the church at 10:00 a. m. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 10:20 a. m. Burial will be in Gibson Clark Cemetery, Clarendon County.
