Thomas Ivory Jones, 79, son of the late Albert “Bo” Oliver and Leola Jones, was born on June 21, 1939, in Sumter. Thomas was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. Thomas, affectionately called “Jonesy”, was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and was a graduate of Scott Branch High School, Class of 1958. On September 18, 1960, Thomas married Pennie Louise Jackson and shortly thereafter they moved to Harlem, NY, where they resided and remained devoted life partners for 54 years until her passing. Thomas began his career as a bus driver in August 1967 for 17 years and later became a dispatcher for MaBSTOA/MTA. He retired in August 2007 after 40 years of hard work and dedication at the Michael J. Quill depot. He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Cheryl Mofield; his son, Michael Jones (Debra); three granddaughters; two great granddaughters; four nieces; his sister, Janie Jones-Major; ,and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life services will be held Sunday, September 30, 2018, 2 p. m. from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev.
