Samuel "Cotton" Hilton Epps,,60, departed this earthly life early March 2, 2010 at his residence 1505 Boulevard Road, Sumter. Born March 23, 1949 in Sumter County, he was a son of Namon Epps and Virginia Hilton.

"Cotton or Lee", as he was affectionately called, was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. He was a master roofer. For the pass 35 years, he has worked for Fort Roofing and at the time of his passing he was employed with Roofco Roofing.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Virginia Hilton of Lake City; his father and step mother, Namon (Perlistine) Epps of Greeleyville; his brothers, Pressley (Mary) Cantey of Florence, James (Dorothy McKnight) Epps of Greeleyville; his sisters, Rebecca (Larry) Hanna of Lake City, Glenda (Willie) Morant of Greeleyville; his uncles, Roman (Cynthia) Hilton of Timmonsville, Leroy (Vernell) Hilton of Plainfield, NJ; his aunts, Annie Montgomery of Lake City, Francis Hilton of Greeleyville; five additional uncles; two additional aunts; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

 

Memorial services will be held 2:00 P. M., Saturday, March 13, 2010 from the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Rev. Dr. Ernest Jackson, officiating, eulogist, assisted by Rev. James Montgomery, Jr.
