Estell Green Moore, 96, departed this earthly life on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Sumter Health and Rehab Center, Sumter.
Born October 13, 1913, in Sumter County, she was the daughter of the late Luther Green and Lottie Pinckney Green.
At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord, and became a member of St. Luke A. M. E. Church. She attended the public schools of Sumter County.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late George McCoy. To this union a daughter was born. Later in life she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Robert Moore.
Years later she moved to Brooklyn, N. Y., there she affiliated herself with The Church of God In Christ where she served faithfully as an usher until she returned to Sumter to be the care taker of her aging parents.
Upon returning home, she united herself with Joshua Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the senior choir and senior missionary until her health failed.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: a devoted and loving daughter, Rovenia (Thomas) Perry; one granddaughter, Sandra King; one great granddaughter, Hillary King, all of Detroit, MI; two brothers, Charlie Green of New York, NY and Moise (Susan) Green of Sumter; one sister, Mary Robinson of Brooklyn, NY; twelve devoted nieces; ten devoted nephews; a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Ed Green, and three sisters, Bessie Sumter, Mamie Deas and Florine Williams.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Friday, March 19, 2010 from the Joshua Baptist Church, 5200 Live Oak Road, Dalzell with Rev. Eugene Dennis, pastor, eulogist, assisted by Rev. Roosevelt Williams, Rev. Marie D. Webb, Rev. Dorothy Maple, Rev. William Jefferson, and Rev. Irene D. Anthony.
The family will received friends at the family home 1025 Dibert Street, Sumter.
The Remains will be placed in the church at 12:00 noon.
The funeral procession will leave from the family home at 12:20 p. m.
Floral Bearers will be Missionaries
Pall Bearers will be Trustees.
Burial will be in the Joshua Baptist Church Yard Cemetery, Dalzell.
