Hattie E. Deleon, 78, widow of Edward "Buster" Deleon, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence. Born September 13, 1931, in Eastover (Richland County), she was a daughter of the late Leroy and Grace Miller Edwards.
She received Christ at St. Paul Holiness Church under Pastor Shirley Holiday, where she was a dedicated member. She was presently attending Resurrection Tabernacle of Deliverance under Pastor Thelma R. Kennedy, where she was the church mother and loved to sing and praise the Lord.
Her memory will be cherished by: one son, Robert (Delores) Edwards; three daughters, Eloise (Adolphus) Hudson, Kathy (Luther) Hunter, Hattie (Robert) Nathaniel; one son-in-law, Michael Cantey; one nephew-in-law, Pastor Thabiti Scott; one step daughter, Amy Anderson and a friend, Harry L. Smoot; nine grand children; fifteen great grand children; three sisters, Ruth Galloway and Eva Mae Purdue, both of Sumter, Eura (Willie) Daymon of Rochester, N. Y.; two brothers, Moses and Jay Edwards, both of Sumter; a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Shaw and Shirley Edwards; five brothers, Leroy Jr., Sam, James, Ozier, and Roosevelt Edwards; two daughters, Julia M. Cantey and Pastor Bettie S. Rembert and her son-in-law, Bishop Herman E. Rembert, Jr.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Saturday, March 27, 2010 from the Resurrection Tabernacle of Deliverance, 100 East Red Bay, Sumter, with Pastor Thelma R. Kennedy, eulogist, Co-Pastor Linda Simmons, officiating, assisted by Pastor Thabiti Scott, Pastor Christopher Thompson, Elder Martino, and Pastor Shirley Holiday.
The family will receive friends at the home 6805 Skinner Road, Gable.
The Remains will be placed in the church at 10:00 a. m.
The Funeral procession will leave from the home at 10:30 a. m.
Flower bearers and Pall bearers will be friends of the family.
Burial will be in the St. Paul Holiness Church Cemetery, Sumter.
