Robert Lee Dinkins, 62, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston Salem, NC.
Born in Lee County on February 28, 1948, he was a son of the late Harry Dinkins, Sr. and Alzora Wesley Dinkins.
He attended the public schools of Lee County. He was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church, Bishopville.
Robert was married to Jannie Mae Mahoney Lighty.
Surviving to cherish his loving memories are: his son, Robert Lee Dinkins, Jr.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Emma (Clifton) Hargrove of Houston, Texas and Helen Bradley of Queens, New York; six brothers, Elijah Dinkins (his caregiver), and Harry Dinkins, Jr. of Bishopville, Jack (Geneva) Dinkins (his caregiver) of Winston Salem, NC, Hosie (Dorothy) Dinkins of Sumter, Billy Joe Dinkins of McBee, and Gene (Crystal) Dinkins of Greenville; three special cousins, Betty Benjamin and Shirley Hill of Bishopville and Rebecca Robinson of New York; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Dinkins, Sr. and Alzora Wesley Dinkins; one sister, Eathel Bribson; and two brothers, John and Albert Dinkins, Sr.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from the St. Mark Baptist Church, 510 Manville-Wisacky Road, Bishopville, with Darren P. Dixon, pastor, eulogist, assisted by Pastor Cecil Stevens, Elder Nathaniel Dixon, and Pastor Rodney James.
The family will receive friends at the home of his brother, Elijah Dinkins, 513 Dogwood Drive, Bishopville.
The Remains will be placed in the church at 1:00 p. m.
The funeral cortege will leave the home of his brother at 1:30 p. m.
Flowers bearers will be Tiffanie Dinkins-Scott, Barbara Simien, Polly Carter, Geneva Pearson, Annette Goodwin, Joann Baker, Patricia Baker, Christine Coe and Michelle Holmes.
Pall bearers will be Jimmy Dinkins, Albert Dinkins, Harry Dinkins III, Preston Hargrove, Walter Baker and Ralph Bradley.
Burial will be in the St. Mark Baptist Church Yard Cemetery, Bishopville.
