Lease Roberson Peterson, 59,  widow of William “Sonny” Peterson, departed this earthly life on  Thursday,  June 17, 2010   at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born  July 4, 1951,  in Columbia,  (Richland County),  she was a daughter of  Louise Young Roberson  and the late Marion “Robert” Roberson.
Lease grew up in Perth Amboy, NJ where she was attended the public schools  After High School, she became a nursing assistant and was employed with Perth Amboy General Hospital until she moved to Sumter, South Carolina in the late 70’s. She attended Second Baptist church in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, where she enjoyed singing.  Later in life, she played the organ and sand with a Jazz group.  Lease loved to listen to her gospel music and singing old hymns. Lease retired from Clarion Hotel, Columbia after years of employment. 
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her mother, Louise Young Roberson; her sister, Brenda Roberson and her brother, Arthur Bolden, all of Columbia; a granddaughter, Monique Renee Walker of New Brunswick, NJ;  five brothers-in-law, Harry Lee Spann,  Lucious (Hattie Bell) Burns,  Eddie Dees,  John Henry (Deloris) Lewis and Lloyd Dees;  seven sisters-in-law, Ollie Mae (David) Gallishaw,  Ada Bell (Wisdom) Albert,  Rosa Lee Anthony,  Lucille Woodberry, Virginia (Isaac) Cooper,  Lubertha Bradley and Evelyn Roberson;  a dear precious friend, Willie Smith of Sumter;  devoted nephews, Phillip Roberson,  Ja’Varass Roberson,  De’Michael Roberson, DaQuan Roberson;  nieces, Dianne Boone,  Deionna Boone, Maybell Boone,  Evelyn Toney,  Latoya Roberson and her special little lady,  Shelena Jackson; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Frederick Lake; her father Marion “Robert” Roberson;  her brother, Wayne Roberson;   a  sister, Marlene  Roberson Scott; and  her  grand  mother,  Elise Gardner.

 

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Tuesday,  June 22, 2010 from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc.,  821 North Main Street, Sumter  with Reverend Sharon Boyd,  officiating, eulogist.

The family will receive friends at her home 60 Hillard Drive,  Apt # 1, Sumter.

The  funeral  cortege  will leave  from  her  home at 12:30 p. m.
