Lela Bradley McCoy, 90, widow of Jesse McCoy, Sr., departed this earthly life on Monday, June 21, 2010 at her home.
Born in Sumter County on November 19, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Will Bradley and Emmaline Reese Bradley.
She grew up in the Oswego Community of Sumter County and confessed Christianity at Clark United Methodist Church where she was mother of the church and a devoted member of the Senior Choir, Sunday School teacher, leader of the Senior Adult Ministry and Chairperson of Mission. Mrs. McCoy was a faithful member that was always on time for church services, often time an hour before service time until her health began to fail.
She enjoyed sewing, working in her garden, doing her usual house keeping duties and spending time with her grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Margaret (Ottice) Jones, Jesse (Theresa) McCoy, Hazel (Millie) McCoy, Will (Cynthia) McCoy, Emmaline McCoy and James E. McCoy; two sisters, Ruth Riddick and Mabel Clarkson; eighteen grandchildren; thirty four great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Elec and Nathaniel McCoy, and one brother, Willie Bradley, Jr.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Saturday, June 26, 2010 from the Clark United Methodist Church, Highway 401, Sumter, with Rev. Bobby Shaw, pastor, eulogist, assisted by Minister John A. King and Minister Donnie Rich.
The family will receive friends at the home 1515 Cuz Road, Sumter.
The Remains will be placed in the church at Noon.
The funeral cortege will leave the home at 12:30 p. m.
Flowers bearers will be United Methodist Women.
Pall bearers will be United Methodist Men.
Burial will be in the Clark United Methodist Church Yard Cemetery, Sumter.
