Life long journey ended for Isaac “Pooie” Dargan, Sr., 80, husband of Angeline Small Dargan, on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter. Born August 2, 1930 in Sumter County, he was the son of the late Ben Dargan and Martha Melette Dargan.
He was a life long member of St. Mark - Four Bridges Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Gospel Choir and other capacities in the church. He was employed at H. C. Edens and Son Farm for more than 3 years.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his precious wife of 62 years, Angeline Small Dargan; three sons, Lewis (Louise) Dargan, Isaac Dargan and James Dargan, all of Sumter; four daughters, Mary D. Brooks of Brooklyn, NY, Janie (James) Goodman of Sumter, Dianne (Talmadge) Joel of Columbia, Gloria (Willie) Cooper of Sumter; one brother, David Dargan of Brooklyn, NY; three sisters, Emma Davis, Irene ( Arron) Pearson, both of Sumter, Estell Singletary of Jamestown; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, and two granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Tuesday, September 14, 2010 from the St. Mark – Four Bridges Baptist Church, 2280 Four Bridges Road, Sumter with Rev. Sammie Simmons, pastor, eulogist, assisted by Rev. Eugene Dennis, Rev. R. L. Williams and Minister B. J. Jefferson.
The family will receive friends at the family home, 2680 Yank Haven Drive, Sumter.
The Remains will be placed in the church for viewing at 12:00 Noon.
The funeral procession will leave from the family home at 12:30 p. m.
Floral Bearers will be granddaughters and missionary.
Pall Bearers will be grandsons and nephews.
Interment will be in the St. Mark – Four Bridges Baptist Church Yard Cemetery, Sumter.
