Alice Lee Johnson Myers, 81, widow of Hazel Myers, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter. Born January 9, 1930 in Lee County, she was the daughter of the late Rebecca Johnson Williams. She received her education in the public schools of Lee County.
At an early age, she joined the Jerusalem Stuckey Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Gospel Choir and Usher Board.
“Nang”, as she was affectionately called, was a woman of grace and style to those who knew her. She loved her family and friends dearly and cared much for others. She was a domestic worker.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: four sons, Leroy (Ellen) Myers, John (Rosa) Myers, both of Sumter, Robert Myers of Hawaii, David Myers of the home; four daughters, Rebecca Robinson of the home, Josephine (Harold) Billups, Rolina (Hillard) Boone, Shirley (John) Wilson, all of Sumter; one aunt, Mrs. Corine Johnson of Dalzell; twenty grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Monday, March 21, 2011 from the Jerusalem Stuckey Baptist Church, 1407 Jamestown Road, Bishopville, with the Rev. Julia Sanders, pastor, eulogist, assisted by the Rev. Timothy A. Johnson, Sr., Minister William Sanders, Minister Willie Solomon and Minister Richard Boone.
The family will receive friends at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, John and Rosa Myers, 873 Jefferson Road, Sumter.
The Remains will be placed in the church at 10:00 a. m.
The funeral procession will leave the home of her son and daughter-in-law at 10:30 a. m.
Flower bears and Pall bears will be friends of the family.
Interment will be in the Cooksfield Cemetery, John D Herriott Road, Dalzell.
