Jeanella Richbow, 72, was called to her eternal rest on Sunday, April 10, 2011 in Richmond, Virginia. Born in Horatio on September 28, 1938, she was the daughter of Elijah and Amelia “Lizzie” Richbow. Jeanella was the youngest of ten children.
She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Ebenezer High School, Dalzell. She then moved to New York, where she lived and worked many years while raising her daughter. After retirement, she moved to Richmond, Virginia with her daughter and granddaughter.
She leaves to cherish her memories; a devoted and loving daughter, Kate D. Richbow; beloved granddaughter, Kailene N. R. Dozier of Henrico, VA; her siblings, Edith Crawford of New York, Gladys Walker, Emma Habersham, Caesar Richbow, Francis Dinkins, all of Horatio; brother-in-law, Pinkney Dinkins; sisters-in-law, Ellen and Ruth Richbow; a favored nephew, Joseph Hardin of New Jersey; a niece, Sarah Singleton of New York; a host of other nieces and nephews, she loved very much and life long friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah and Amelia Richbow; four siblings, William Richbow, Mamie Brown, Hayward Richbow and Junior Richbow.
Funeral services were held 12:30 p. m., Friday, April 15, 2011 from the Willow Grove A. M. E. Church, Horatio, with the Rev. Preston, pastor, eulogist.
The family received friends at 6750 Light House Road, Horatio.
The Remains were placed in the church for viewing at 11:30 a. m.
The funeral procession left from the home at 12:00 noon.
Floral bearers and Pall bearers were family and friends.
Burial will be in the Willow Grove A. M. E. Church Yard Cemetery, Horatio.
