Wayne Suber

Wayne Suber,  54,   son of the late Herbert Suber and Annie Barnes Suber, was born August 6, 1956 in Bronx, NY.  He departed this life on Monday, May 9, 2011 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter.

At age 13, Wayne’s family moved to Columbia.  He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at the Greater St. Luke Baptist Church, Columbia.  Wayne later joined Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, Dalzell, where he served on the Ushers Ministry as an usher and treasurer.  He also was an active member of the Brotherhood Ministry.  Wayne constantly spoke of the Lord.  He believed in the Lord and had strong faith in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Wayne graduated from W. J. Keenan High School and Midlands Technical College.  After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force in 1982.  Wayne served in the Air Force for 21 years earning rank of Master Sergeant.  Some of his assignments included OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH QATAR and OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, RAF Fairford UK, Kun San Air Base South Korea, RAF Mildenhall, United Kingdom.

Wayne retired from the United States Air Force in 2004, then worked at Alutiig Security and Technology at Shaw Air Force Base, Sumter.

Wayne enjoyed sports.  He especially enjoyed basketball and watching televised games.  Wayne also enjoyed people and conversations.  He was never at a loss for topics of discussion.

Wayne is survived by: his mother, Annie Barnes Suber;  his wife, Alfredia Butler Suber;  three sons, Wayne, Desmond and Devin Suber, all of Oakland, CA; a sister, Lisa Suber of Columbia;  two brothers, Ronald Suber of Columbia and Herbert Suber of San Antonio, TX; one aunt, Daisy Bryant of Leesville;  seven grandchildren;  three sisters-in-law;  two brothers-in-law;  seven nieces; seven nephews; many loving family members and  friends.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 14, 2011 from the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 3285 Peach Orchard Road, (Highway 441) Dalzell,   with  the Rev. Richard Addison, pastor,  eulogist.

The family will receive friends at the home 3125 Joyce Street,  Sumter.

The Remains will be placed in the church at 11:00 a. m.

The funeral procession will leave from the home at 11:30 a. m.

Floral bearers and Pall bearers will be Hopewell Usher Ministry.

Interment will be 12:00 Noon, Monday, May 16, 2011 in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia.
