Leroy Bailey
May 19, 1941 to May 18, 2011

 

 

 

Leroy “Roy” Bailey, 69,  departed his earthly life on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Tuomey Health Care System, Sumter.  Born May 19, 1941 in Darlington County,  he was the son of  the late Leon and Jessie Brown Bailey.

Leroy attended Darlington County Public Schools and graduated from Butler High School, Hartsville.  He was employed by Sinco Trucking Company, Landair, as a shift supervisor.  Leroy had over 40 years of working experiences.  He loved working on old cars.

Leroy was a member of Centerville A. M. E. Church, Hartsville.  Mr. Bailey was a loving husband, father and friend. 

He leaves to cherish his precious memories:  his wife, Sadie Mae Bailey;  three daughters, Erika Nicole Henry Bailey of the home,  Sheila (Emory) Rushing of Charlotte, NC, Paula (Darwin) Davis of Augusta, GA;  two sons, Paul (Jackie) Bailey of Hartsville,  Reno Bailey of Beaufort;  two step sons, Johnny Henry of Maryland,  Isaiah Henry of the home;  two step daughters, Josephine Dogan of Rock Hill,  Delores Henry of Florence;  three sisters, Barbara (Bernard) Walden of Gainesville, FLA, Geraldine (Victor) Woods and Neice (George) Darty, both of Detroit, MI; two brothers, Donald (Joy) Bailey of Maryland,  Sam (Josephine) Bailey of Hartsville;  a special grandson of the home, Antuan Parker, Jr.; four other grandsons;  one granddaughter;  a host of  other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leon and Jerry Bailey.

Funeral  services  will be  held  12:00 Noon,  Monday, May 23, 2011 from the  Centerville A. M. E. Church,  1249 East Home Avenue, Hartsville,   with the Rev. Johnny. L. Rouse,  pastor,   Bishop B. R. Wilson, eulogist. 

The family will receive friends at the home  5121 Elliott Highway, Lynchburg.

The Remains will be placed in the church at 11:00 A. M.

The funeral procession will leave from the home at 11:15 a. m.

Floral bears will be his nieces and friends.

Pall bearers will be his nephews and friends.

Interment will be in the Centerville A. M. E. Church Yard Cemetery, Hartsville.
