Lavale Young, Jr., 61, widower of Mary Young, departed from earth to a higher calling from the Lord on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Kershaw Health Memorial Hospital, Camden. Born January 1, 1950 in Rembert, he was the youngest son of the late Lavale Young, Sr. and Vermelle McDaniel Young.
Vale “Boo” accepted Christ as his personal Savior in the early seventies and then he began to move up the King’s Highway. He loved the church and was very dedicated to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for he knew this day was to surely com.
He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and was a 1968 graduate of Ebenezer High School, Dalzell. He retired from E. I. DuPont after more than 30 years of service.
He leaves to cherish his memories: three sons, Willie (Laura) of El Paso, TX, Christopher ( Tasha) of the home, Maurice (Monica) of Columbia; two step children, Kendra (Sergio) Elmore of Greenville and Michael (Azie) Holiman of Columbia; his mother-in-law, Ruth Hagins; seventeen grand children; a very special caretaker, Alex Skinner; a host of nieces, nephews, many friends and love ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one niece, Sheryl, and three brothers, Jimmy, James and Henry.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m., Friday, June 3, 2011 from the Rafting Creek Baptist Church, 3860 Highway 261 North, Rembert, with the Rev. Melvin Mack, pastor, eulogist, assisted by the Rev. Willie Dennis, Rev. John Roberson, Rev. Burdell V. Hill and Minister Jonnie Mae Gist.
The family will receive friends at the home 6025 Cohen Road, Rembert.
The Remains will be placed in the church at 1:00 p. m.
The funeral procession will leave from the home at 1:20 p. m.
Floral bearers and Pall bearers will be family and friends.
Interment will be in the Rafting Creek Baptist Church Yard Cemetery, Rembert.
