William Clinton Wiggins, 87, husband of Eartha Brown Taylor Wiggins, departed this earthly life early Sunday morning, June 26, 2011 at Kershaw Health Center, Camden. William Clinton, affectionately known as “Bill”, was born November 25, 1923 in Ehrhardt, he was the son of the late Isaac Wiggins and Addie Lee Brown Wiggins. Bill attended school in Bamberg County and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
At an early age Bill migrated to Washington, DC and on to New Jersey. While residing in New Jersey, he was employed at Sel-Rite Lumber and Reisen Lumber Companies.
Bill joined Metropolitan Baptist Church in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, where he served faithfully as a member of the Usher Board and Trustee Board.
In 1972, Bill met and married Eartha Brown Taylor, and in 1977, Bill and his family moved to Rembert. Bill was employed and retired from Burgess and Brogdon Concrete, Sumter.
He became a member of Joshua Baptist Church, where he served on the Trustee Board, Brotherhood, Choirs and Senior Missionary Ministry. Bill had a passion for his assigned duty as a trustee while working as a parking attendant. He loved and served his church well.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted and loving wife of the home; a son, William Frances (Marcie) Wiggins; three daughters, Bertha Taylor (Hilbert) Tucker, Mary Liz Wiggins (John) Jenkins, Eleise Lisa Wiggins (Jeffrey) Hudson; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; two god daughters, Stephenia Gillis (Michael) Davis and Daisy Wells; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, one grandchild, three brothers and four sisters.
We are grateful to God for giving Bill so many years among us, to share and enjoy his love. We wait in anticipation for that glorious reunion which is sure to come, to salute the spirit of our dear one.
The Funeral service will be held 11:00 a. m., Friday, July 1, 2011 from the Joshua Baptist Church, 5200 Live Oak Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Eugene G. Dennis, pastor, eulogist, the Rev. William Jefferson, presiding, assisted by the Rev. James Durant, Rev. Otis Butler and Rev. R. L. Williams.
The family will receive friends at the home 7245 Boykin Mill Road, Rembert.
The Remains will be placed in the church at 10:00 a. m.
The funeral procession will leave from the home at 10:30 a. m.
Floral bearers will be Trustee Wives.
Pall bearers will be Trustees.
Interment will be in the Joshua Baptist Church Yard Cemetery, Dalzell.
