Carl Vanard Canty

Carl Vanard Canty, 45,  husband of Tonya Mack Canty,  entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 7, 2011  at St. Francis Hospital, Greenville.   Born in Statesboro, Georgia on June 5, 1966,  he was a son of the late Rev. James Canty and Annie Mae Carr Canty. Carl was a 1984 graduate of Statesboro High School in Bullock County.  He later moved to Sumter County and resided in Dalzell until his demise.

He is survived by his loving, caring and devoted wife, Tonya Mack-Canty; three daughters, Carla Canty of the home, Yashica Smith of Statesboro, GA and Jasmine Robinson of Sylvania, GA; one stepson, Matthew Blanding, Jr. of the home, six brothers, Willie Canty, Derwin (Tracey) Canty of Albany, GA, Jimmy Canty, Alfred (Betty) Canty,  James (Cynthia) Canty and David Canty, all of Statesboro, GA;.  five sisters, Petronia (John Willie) Hunter; Barbara Matson, Judy  (Stanley) McBride, Sharon Canty, all of Statesboro, GA  and Emma Canty of Atlanta, GA;  three grandchildren, Y’are  Johnson, R’eya Johnson and Amira Smith of Statesboro, GA; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jasper and Estell Mack;  one sister-in-law, Stella (Deacon Alexander) Jenkins of Dalzell; one brother-in-law, Johnny Mack of Philadelphia, PA; three aunts, Jimmy L. Canty, Ethel M. Canty, both of Statesboro, GA and Louise Canty of Cluewiston, FL;  a host of  nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, SPC Emanaul Blanding.

Funeral  services will be  held 12:00 Noon,  Saturday,  October 15, 2011  from  United Fellowship Worship Center,  Statesboro, Georgia with the Rev. Stanley Moore,  officiating, Rev.  James Thomas, presiding,  assisted by Rev. Timothy Lee  and Rev. Julius Abraham.

The family will receive friends at the home 4365 Layneward Court, Dalzell.

Viewing will be from 12:00 Noon to 7:00 p. m., Friday, with a Wake Service from 5:00 p. m. to  7:00 p. m. in the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc. 821 North Main Street, Sumter.

The procession will leave from the home  at 9:00 a. m.

Floral bearers will be nieces and Statesboro High School Class of 1984.

Honorary Pall bearers will be Rodney Brown,  Bobby Moore,  Lamar Mosley,  Freddie Wiley, Jr. and Deacons o Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.

Active Pall bears will be James Canty, Jr.,  Matthew Canty, Craig Grant, Michael Moore, Ricardo Natson and Captain Alton Natson.

Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery, Statesboro, GA.
