Frank James Canty

Frank James Canty, 48, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Tuomey Health Care System, Sumter. Born in Sumter County on July 30, 1960, he was a son of Herman McLeod, Jr. and Thomasina Canty McLeod.

 

Frank was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior. He was employed as a Security Guard at Club Miami. Frank was sincere, outgoing and loved by all who knew him.

Frank leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Jazlyn Canty of Sumter; his parents, Herman McLeod, Jr. and Thomasina Canty McLeod of Sumter; seven sisters, Annette Canty, Jeanette (Freddie) Wright, Queenie Canty, Nolia McLeod, Margaret (Fred) Thompson, all of Sumter, Catherine Chappell of Fayetteville, N. C., Francena Canty of Minnesota; two brothers, Dedric Canty and Ronnie Portee, both of Sumter; two aunts, Willie Mae McLeod of Sumter, Lisa Green Porter of Winnsboro; three uncles, John Canty, Jr. of Sumter, Howard McLeod of Pittsburg, PA; Ike McLeod of Kansas City, MO; a long time companion and dear friend, Lukeisha Slater; two special friends, Diane Slater and Tracey Webb, both of Sumter; one special niece, Tamika Billups of Sumter; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Nola Canty and Harriet McLeod; grandfathers, John Canty, Sr. and Herman McLeod, Sr.; one brother, Michael McLeod; three aunts; and three uncles.

 

Funeral services will be held 4:00 p. m., Saturday, June 13, 2009from the Olden Chapel Union Methodist Episcopal Church, 189 Hoyt Street, Sumter, with the Reverend Joseph Watkins, Jr., pastor, Rev. Matthew Singleton, officiating, eulogist.

 

The family will receive friends at the family home 2375 Rifle Lane, Lot 14, Sumter.

The Remains will be placed in the at 3:00 p. m.

The funeral procession will leave from the family home at 3:20 p. m.

Floral Bearers and Pall Bearers will be family and friends.

Burial will be in the Aycock Cemetery, Wedgefield.
