Steven Legrant, 41, husband of Regina James Legrant, entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 18, 2011 at his home. Born in Sumter County on December 29, 1969, he was the son of Edrena Nathaniel and the late O’Neal Legrant. He was a lifelong citizen of Sumter County and received his early education from the Sumter County School System. He was a 1989 graduate of St. Jude Central High School. He also attended NEI Electronic College and graduated in 1993.
Steven was united in Holy Matrimony on March 21, 1997 to Regina James Legrant. To this union three beautiful daughters were born, Keona, Shemyri and Makayla Legrant.
He was a hard worker and supported his family by being employed with various companies which included Madison Industries, Heilig-Myers, Farmers Furniture, Wendy’s and most recently Sumter Metal as a Material Handler.
In his early years, he attended Beulah A. M. E. Church, Mayesville. One of the most memorable times of his life was when he and his wife gave their life to Christ and his family joined St. Luke A. M. E. Church, Sumter, on September 12, 2010.
Mr. Legrant was a quiet gentleman who truly loved his family, church and community.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his loving wife, Regina and three adorable daughters, Keona, Shemyri and Makayla Legrant all of the home; his mother, Edrena Nathaniel (Kevin); grandmother, Carrie Bell Brown; one sister, Janice Legrant; one brother, Tommy Sigler; one aunt, Debra Brown; one uncle, Edward Brown, Jr.; mother-in-law, Dorothy James; brother-in-law, Alvin (Willodine) James; sister-in-law, Cara ( Robert) Wright all of Sumter; his close friends, John and Monica Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, O’Neal Legrant; grandfather, Edward Brown and his father-in-law, Alvin James.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Wednesday, November 23, 2011 from the Saint Luke A. M. E. Church, 2355 St. Paul’s Church Road, Sumter, with the Rev. E. Robert Thomas, pastor, eulogist, assisted by the Reverend Dr. Lula Gary.
The family will receive friends at the home 1435 Cherryvale Drive, Lot 29, Sumter.
The Remains will be placed in the church at 10:00 a. m.
The funeral procession will leave from the home at 10:30 a. m.
Floral bearers will be the Saint Luke A. M. E. Church Women Missionary Society.
Pall bearers will be the Saint Luke A. M. E. Church Sons of Allen.
Burial will be in the Saint Luke A. M. E. Church Yard Cemetery, Sumter.
