Frank Myers, Jr., 57, departed this earthly life on Monday, June 8, 2009 at Tuomey Health Care System, Sumter. Born in Lee County on May 10, 1952, he was the forth child of eight siblings of Frank Myers, Sr., and the late Janie McMillan Myers.
Frank attended the public schools of Lee County and was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Class of 1971. He was employed with DuPont, Inc., Lugoff, now known as Invista. While employed with Invista, he received several certificates. He was a dedicated employee of Invista for thirty plus years.
Frank was a member of the A Shift Bowling League having received 19 awards for his outstanding performances. He was a member of the ICI, St. Charles Demons and The FCM Baseball Team, receiving eleven awards for his participation in their tremendous victories. A few of his leisure activities included working in the yard, attending Lee Central basketball games, and going fishing, which he called himself the fisherman. Finally, when he was not doing all of that, he would join Coby in an intense, intellectual, stimulating video game.
It is with great honor to recognize Frank as a stellar role model for his commitment and loyalty to his family, friends and job. He has been a vital part in the lives of everyone he came in contact with. Let us not remember how quickly he was taken from us, but how long he was given to us.
Frank leaves to mourn his passing: five children, Twonda Fortune, Farmarris Briggs (Maria), Roderick Rembert (Ciji), Latrina Briggs, and Latrice Briggs; seven siblings, Flossie Gaile, Lillie Boatwright, Willie Myers (Jessie), Mary Upton (Bruce), Janie M. Gregg, Catherine "Shirley" Myers, Thomas L. Myers (Ellisa); six grandchildren; 21 nieces and nephews; a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m., Sunday, June 14, 2009 from the St. Rest Holiness Church, Mayesville, with Pastor Tommie L. Doe, eulogist, Assistant Pastor Elder Lillie Witherspoon, presiding, assisted by Minister James Witherspoon and Minister Annie China.
The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Janie Gregg 34 Hugh Road, Mayesville.
The Remains will be placed in the at 1:00 p. m.
The funeral procession will leave from the home of his sister at 1:20 p. m.
Floral Bearers will be nieces.
Pall Bearers will be nephews.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park, Sumter.
