Brother Oscar Yates III, 54, ended his journey here on earth and went home to be with the Lord on Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25, 2011 at Tuomey Health Care System, Sumter. Born in Sumter County on December 3, 1957, he was the son of Lucille Brown Yates and the late Oscar Yates, Jr.
He was educated within the public schools of Sumter County. He was employed with Georgia Pacific Company for seven years and Sumter Mall for five years. Brother Yates was a member of Saint Mark United Methodist Church.
He leaves a multitude of family members and friends to celebrate his life and cherish his precious memories that he left. They include: one son, David Letrell McWilliams; two daughters, Ziasia Lashay Williams and Ladayishia Nicole Williams; two grandchildren, Sharleeke McWilliams and Michelle Marie McWilliams; a special friend, Lashawnda Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Yates, Jr., and his wife, Michelle McWilliams Yates.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m, Friday, December 30, 2011 from the Saint Mark United Methodist Church, 1093 Oswego Highway, Sumter, with the Reverend Telley Lynnette Gadson, pastor, eulogist.
The family will receive friends at his home 205 Lawrence Street, Sumter.
The Remains will be placed in the church at 10:00 a. m.
The funeral procession will leave from his home at 10:30 a. m.
Floral bearers will be United Methodist Women.
Pall bearers will be United Methodist Men.
Burial will be in the Saint. Mark United Methodist Church Yard Cemetery, Sumter.
