William Magazine

William Magazine, 82, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at McCoy Nursing Home, Bishopville.  Born in Sumter County on March 21, 1929, he was a  son of the late Wash an Minnie Magazine.  

“Sonny Boy”,  as he was affectionately known, attended the public schools of Sumter County.  For many years he was employed with Stuckey Farms. He was also employed by Bakers Salvage.  He was an excellent mechanic until his health failed.  William was a strong man of few words.  He was always willing to give a helping hand.

William leaves to cherish his memory:  a loving wife of 64 years, Mary E. Magazine;  three daughters, Maggie (Herbert) Magazine of Bishopville, Rebecca Magazine of Sumter, Barbara Gray of Columbia;  two sons, Henry (Lynne) Magazine of Bishopville and Eddie Jenkins of Sumter; a special grandson, Tony Wilson whom was raised as a son; a son-in-law, John Richardson; fifteen grandchildren;  fourteen great grandchildren; a host of   nieces, nephews,  other relative  and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Sue Wilson; two brothers,  James and David Magazine;  four sisters, Minnie, Lou, Gladys and Marie Magazine.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m,  Monday,  January 9, 2012  from  the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church, 184 Lake Ashwood Road, Sumter,   with Pastor Kenneth N. Carter, pastor, eulogist,  assisted by the Rev. Clarence Hilton, Jr..

The family will receive friends at the family  home 1280 Green Land Road, Bishopville.

The Remains will be placed in the church at 12:00 noon.

The funeral procession will leave from the family home at 12:30 p. m.

Floral bearers and Pall bearers will be friends of the family

Burial will be in the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church Yard Cemetery.
