Timothy Eugene Martin, 40, life’s journey ended on Monday, June 15, 2009 at his home in Sumter County. Born in Philadelphia, PA on July 18, 1968, he was the eldest child of Bertha Martin Durant and the late Essex Durant, Jr.
Timothy joined St. Luke A. M. E. Church at an early age. He was a graduate of Furman High School, Class of 1987. He was in the Job Corp for two years during which he received training in welding and mechanic. He was employed by Pilgrims Pride until his health began to fail.
Tim was a natural jokester and enjoyed making everyone laugh. He was loved by everyone. He was a great fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Timothy loving memories will be cherished by his mother, Bertha M. Durant; two brothers, Marlon Tyreek Durant and Terry L. Durant, both of Sumter; his maternal grandmother, Rovena Grant of Dalzell; ten aunts; eight uncles; two special nieces, Madyson Nicole Buchanan of North Carolina and Sa’Marlon T. Durant of Sumter; a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P. M., Saturday, June 20, 2009 from the St. Luke A. M. E. Church, 2355 St. Paul Church Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Robert R. Hooper, pastor, eulogist, assisted by Rev. Clarence Hunter, and Rev. Lula Gary
The family will receive friends at the home of his mother, Bertha M. Durant 22 Lake Side Drive, Sumter.
The Remains will be placed in the church at Noon.
The Funeral procession will leave the home of his mother at 12:30 p. m.
Floral bearers and Pall bearers will be friends of the family.
Burial will be in the St. Luke A. M. E. Church Yard Cemetery, Su
