John Miller Dennis, 60,  departed this life on  Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter.  Born on February 1, 1952 in Sumter County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Theresa Miller Dennis.

John, affectionately known as “Bay” to his family and friends, was a good person with a big smile.  Bay attended the public schools of Sumter County. He worked at Carpet World for over 20 years. He enjoyed carpentry and working outside with his hands.

John leaves to cherish his loving memory:  his two sons, Terry Jackson of Camden and Kendrick (Tramaina) Dennis of Columbia;  two daughters, Loretta Osborne of Sumter and Sabrina Jackson of Columbia; three sisters, Ruth (Francis) Campbell  and Eva Moody, both of Rembert,  Hazel (Tony) Singleton of Sumter;  nine brothers, Charlie (Janie) Dennis, Willie (Liz) Dennis, David Dennis, Orin (Ivory) Dennis, Albert (Loretta) Dennis, Apostle Gregory (Lita) Dennis, all of Rembert, Edward (Silvia) Dennis, James Dennis of Camden, Abraham Dennis of Sumter; three aunts;  three uncles;  seven grandsons; seven granddaughter; a host of  nieces, nephews,  other relatives  and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, LaTonya D. Dennis,

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Saturday, March 17, 2012 from the Greater Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, 609 Miller Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. Marvin Hodge, pastor,  Bishop Miller, officiating, eulogist, assisted by Rev. Faulk and Rev. Leata Dennis.

The family will receive friends at the home of his brother, Apostle Gregory Dennis  4915 Dais Road, Rembert.

The Remains will be placed in the church at 12:00 noon.

The funeral procession will leave from the home at 12:20 p. m.

Floral bearers and Pall bearers will be family and friends.
