Sandra Johnson, 81, widow of Edward Johnson, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 in Sumter. Born in Sumter County on February 1, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Roosevelt Martin and Pearline Davis Martin.
She received her education at Booker T. Washington School, Norfolk, Virginia. She was a member of St. Paul Christian Community Church, Washington, D. C. for approximately 28 years or more under the leadership of Pastor Reginald Luckett.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: one son, Ronald Johnson (Brenda); one daughter, Michelle Martin of San Diego, California; one sister, Pretto Porter (Edward); one brother, Roosevelt Martin, Jr.; two grandsons, Tony and Chris; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Johnson and a brother, Joseph Martin.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Monday, March 19, 2012 from the Antioch United Methodist Church, 4040 Dubose Siding Road, Sumter with the Reverend Lawrence Cantey, Jr., pastor, eulogist, assisted by Rev. William L. Baker.
The family will receive friends at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Edward and Pretto Porter, 2645 Golden Eye Ridge, Idle Wildle Sub-Division, Sumter.
The Remains will be placed in the church at 12:00 noon.
The procession will leave from the home at 12:15 p. m.
Floral bearers and Pall bearers will be family and friends.
