Lenora R. McLeod

Sis. Lenora Richardson McLeod, 84,  departed this life quietly and peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at her home.  Born in Lee County on June 22, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Phyllis Jenkins Richardson.

She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County.  She retired from the Campbell Soup Company after 29 years of employment.  She liked gardening, looking after her family and going to church.

She was a member of The Church in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Inc.  She heard the Whole Truth Gospel program on the radio broadcast preached by Bishop L. Hunter and accompanied the late Sis. Essie Mae Robinson and her family to The Church in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. in Hartsville.  In 1955, she was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and soon received the gift of the Holy Ghost.  She was a faithful and dedicated member and worker in the work of the Lord. She was a member of the Whole Truth Choir. She was a member of the Lynchburg Church Branch, where she was a very good cook, and the Prayer Band.  Sis. McLeod was a member of the Missionary Board for many years and once served as the president.  She was the eldest missionary at the time of her passing.  She was also a member of Group 2. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, family, extended family, church members and many others whose life she has touch in her 84 years.

Se leaves to cherish her loving memories:  two loving and devoted daughters, Dorothy McLeod Nelson and Brenda McLeod Shaw of the home;  a son, Thomas McLeod, Jr. of Sumter; a special grandson of the home, Bryan J. McLeod; one brother, Samuel Richardson of Sumter; one sister, Mary Lee Davis of Paterson, N. J.;  a brother-in-law, James Dubose of Sumter; two daughters-in-law, Lydia McLeod of Sumter and Priscilla McLeod of Washington, D. C.;  seventeen grandchildren; thirty four great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; several special nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.  She also leaves her adopted family, the Robinsons, whom she loved dearly and her large church family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bro. Thomas McLeod, Sr. of 62 years; a son, Moise McLeod; sisters, Ida Dubose and Sadie Braxton; brothers,  William, Hazel, Joe, Lewis, Buster and Frank Richardson; great-granddaughters, Jasmine and Keara Chapmen, and sons-in-law, Leroy Nelson and Isaiah Shaw.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p. m., Tuesday,  April 10, 2012 from The Church in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Inc., 2449 Calvary Road, Hartsville, with Bishop Joe C. Tisdale, pastor, eulogist.

The family will receive friends at the family home 3120 North Main Street, Sumter.

The procession will leave from the family home at 2:00 p. m.

Floral bearers will be Sisterhood.

Pall bearers will be Brotherhood, grandsons, and friends.

Burial will be in the Hartsville Church Cemetery, Hartsville.
