Patrick S. Davis, 61, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Tuomey Health Care System, Sumter. Born in Florence County on October 5, 1950, he was the son of Ethelrine Prince and the late Rev. Marion Davis. He attended the public schools of Sumter County and was a 1971 graduate of Sumter High School. After graduation, he continued his education by attending Denmark Technical College. He was employed by Sumter Utilities for over 20 years as a master mechanic specializing in diesel trucks and hydraulic lifts.
Survivors include his mother, Ethelrine (Jasper) Prince of Sumter; one son, Joseph Mandrielle (Melanie) Davis of Augusta, GA; one granddaughter, Judith Ansley Davis of Augusta, GA; his loving companion, Demetre J. Battles of Sumter; three brothers, Willie (Margaret) Montgomery and Isaiah (Deborah) McDuffie, both of Sumter, Abraham (Rochelle) McDuffie of Tampa, FL.; four devoted sisters, Lillie Smith of Phoenix, AZ, Sylvanna Greene of Manhattan, N. Y., Mary M. Butler and Ruth McDuffie, both of Sumter; a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Montgomery, and one sister, Mildred Davis.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 p. m., Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from The John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter with Elder Joseph Mandell Davis, officiating, eulogist.
The family is receiving friends at the home 23 Brunhill Circle, Sumter.
The procession will leave from the family home at 12:30 p. m.
