Harry Brailsford

Harry Brailsford, 65, departed this life on Friday, April 13, 2012 at Tuomey Health Care System, Sumter.  Born in Sumter County (Dalzell) on January 19, 1947, he was the son of the late Dave Brailsford and Osteen Jenkins Brailsford. 

He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and was a graduate of Ebenezer High School, Class of 1967.  After graduation, he was employed by Thomas and Howard Company, where he worked until his retirement in 2007.

At an early age he joined the Joshua Baptist Church family under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend S. J. Weston.  Harry was a faithful and loyal brother.

Harry leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memories:  three sisters, Rosa L. (Leroy) Sinkler of Sumter,  Mary Alice (Joseph) Howard of Irvington, N. J.,  Julia Boyd of Newark, N. J.;  two brothers, Dave (Susan) Brailsford of Dalzell, and Robert (Annie M.) Brailsford of  Wedgefield;  two brothers-in-law, Willie Dawson of Irvington, N. J. and Charlie Bradley of Sumter;  one sister-in-law, Irabell Brailsford of Sumter;  thirteen nieces,  Katherine James, who was reared as a sister in the home; twelve nephews, Earl and Alex Brailsford, who were reared in the home as brothers;  a number of grand nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  .

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m., Friday, April 20, 2012 from the Joshua Baptist Church, 5200 Live Oak Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Eugene G. Dennis, pastor, the Rev. Jannette Jenkins, officiating, eulogist, the Rev. William Jefferson, presiding,  assisted by the Rev. Herbert Temoney.

The family is receiving friends at the home of his sister, Rosa Lee Sinkler, 205 Brooklyn Street, Sumter.

The Remains will be placed in the church at 1:00 p. m.

The funeral procession will leave from the home of his sister at 1:20 p. m.

Floral bearers will be nieces, family and friends.

Pall bearers will be nephews, family and friends.

Burial will be in the Joshua Baptist Churchyard Cemetery, Dalzell.
