Inez Virginia Davis, 86, departed this life on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at her residence. Born in Sumter County on April 6, 1926, she was the daughter of the late James Spears and Fannie Muldrow Spears.  She attended Bula Schools and Mayesville Institute. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and First Baptist Missionary Church. Mrs. Davis was employed with Tuomey Hospital and also various food services in the Sumter Community.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a son, Alex Davis, Jr.;  two grandchildren, Alecha Michelle Davis and Alex Lorenzo Davis; two great grandchildren, Curtis Davis and Amera Davis Lee;  one sister, Wilhelmenia Harris;  special cousin, Julia Hudson;  special nephew, Billy (Sherry) Davis;  other nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Alex Davis, Sr., and two sisters, Margaret Davis and Flossie Porter.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Thursday, May 3, 2012 from the First Baptist Missionary Church, 219 South Washington Street, Sumter, with the Rev. George P. Windley, Jr., pastor, eulogist, assisted by Rev. Robert E. Galloway, Rev. O. J. Hannah and Rev. W. S. Randolph.

The family is receiving friends at her home, 125 West Bartlett Street, Apt # 210, Sumter.

The Remains will be placed in the church at 10:00 a. m.

The funeral procession will leave from her home at 10:30 a. m.

Floral bearers and Pall bearers will be family and friends.

Burial will be in the Mayesville City Cemetery, Mayesville.
