Joree Jennings, 91, widow of Alex Jennings, Sr., entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at her home. Born in Lee County on April 12, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John and Estell Lawrence Covington.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: three precious daughters, Rosa Lee (Leroy) Jennings, Margaret (Willie) Montgomery and Algie Green, all of Sumter; one devoted son, Ivey Jennings of the home; five grandchildren, Willie Montgomery, Jr., Eric (Lauris) Montgomery, Tammy Montgomery, all of Sumter, Tyrone and Yolandra Green, both of Charlotte, N. C.; six great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Katherline Jennings and Lelia Jennings, both of Sumter; a special caregiver, Cynthia Leonard of Sumter; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one son, Alex Jennings, Jr., one grandson, Derrick Montgomery; six sisters; four brothers; eight brothers-in-law; and six sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m., Saturday, May 5, 2012 from New Bethel Baptist Church, Highway 15 North, Bishopville with Rev. Isaac McCullough, pastor, Bishop Jeffrey Johnson, eulogist.
The family is receiving friends at her home, 3007 Prosser Avenue, Sumter.
The Remains will be placed in the church at 1:00 p. m.
The procession will leave from her home at 1:15 p. m.
Floral Bearers will be Yvonne Nelson, Yolandra Richardson, Lucille Myers, Kathy Jennings, Cassandra Jennings, Kayunna Bradshaw and Brandy Bradshaw.
Pall Bearers will be Willie Montgomery, Jr., Eric Montgomery, Ricky Montgomery, Larry Bradshaw, Ronnie Scott and Benny Jennings.
Burial will be in the New Bethel Baptist Church Yard Cemetery, Bishopville.
