James “Newkey” Edward Hunt, 51, departed his earthly life on Friday, May 25, 2012 at his residence in Sumter. Born in Sumter on October 6, 1960, he was one of seven children born to the late Andrew Hunt, Sr. and Bessie Tention Hunt.
Mr. Hunt, known to his close family and friends as “Newkey”, was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. Newkey was employed by NEPCO and Gold Kist for many years until his health began to fail. He loved his family and spent as much time as he could amongst them. He blessed many with his gentle, patient nature.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: a father, John Williams of Sumter; three children, James Chandler of Greenville, Kevin Robinson and Toby Chandler, both of Sumter; one stepson, Travis Chandler of Sumter; two sisters, Barbara Hunt of Florence and Daisy Mae Hunt of the home; four brothers, Jerome Tention of the home, Edward Hunt and Jerry (Mary) Hunt, Sr. of Sumter, Andrew (Patricia) Hunt of Levittown, PA; two grandsons, James Dunham and Markel Chandler of Sumter; one uncle, Warren (Leatha) Tention of Sumter; two family friends of the home, Ike Bradley and Lucius Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p. m., Saturday, June 2, 2012 from the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Jackson, officiating, eulogist, assisted by Evangelist Adline Albert.
The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 9 Stark Street, Sumter.
The funeral procession will leave 1:10 p. m. from the home.
Floral bearers and Pall bearers will be family and friends.
Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Sumter.
