Michael Antonio McDaniel, 34, one of God’s angel, was called home on Saturday, June 23, 2012. Born in Sumter County on October 7, 1977, he was the son of Elijah Anthony and Geneva Johnson McDaniel.
Michael was educated in the Lee County public schools and was a 1995 graduate of Bishopville High School. After graduating High School, Michael attended Central Carolina Technical College, where he pursued a certification in auto mechanics. He was formerly employed by Floyd and Sons and the Department of Transportation.
Michael attended and joined Mt. Olive AME Church at an early age. During his youth, he served on the usher board and actively participated in the youth activities of the church.
From an early age, Michael enjoyed horseback riding, and riding various types of ATV’s. His special interest was in the area of racing motorcycles and cars.
He leaves a legacy of love and friendship to all who knew him: his parents, Elijah Anthony and Geneva Johnson McDaniel of the home; his grandfather, Isaac Johnson of Linden, NJ; three sons, Mikel, Tyshon and Michael McDaniel, Jr. and their mother, Beshunda Ervin of Lamar; a daughter, Nylasia McDaniel and her mother, April Alston, of Sumter; a brother, Elijah Anthony “Stuff” McDaniel (Olivia Simon) of Sumter; a special friend, Yolanda “Chan” Rufus and her son, Quavon Frierson. He is also survived by someone whom he loved, as a sister, Kelly Carter; and brotherly figure, Warren Carter. Michael loved and was also genuinely loved by his family and leaves to cherish his memory a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Alice Johnson, and his paternal grandparents, John “Jack” McDaniel, Sr. and Annie Mae McDaniel.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Friday, June 29, 2012 from the Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church, 2738 Woodrow Road, Woodrow, with the Rev. Dr. Friendly J. Gadson, pastor, the Rev. Wayne Montgomery, pastor of Barnettsville Baptist Church, eulogist, assisted by the Rev. Marvin Hodge, Rev. Raymond Cook, Rev. J. Elbert Williams and Minister Ricky Stuckey.
The family will receive friends at his home 2799 Woodrow Road, Woodrow.
The funeral procession will leave 12:30 p. m. from his home.
Floral bearers will be Diamondz and Pearlz Motorcycle Club.
Pall bearers will be Top Notch Motorcycle Club.
Burial will be in the Barnettsville Baptist Yard Cemetery, 106 Manville/St. Charles Road, Bishopville
