Alethia Bernice Richardson Gilmore, 72, entered into the presence of the Lord joyfully on Thursday, June 28, 2012 in Paterson, N. J. Born in Sumter County on June 30, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Frank Hazel and Pearline Lonon Richardson. He mother passed away at an early age at which time she took on the role of caring for her younger siblings. She was then blessed with a second mother, the late Rebecca McFadden Richardson through the marriage of her father.
At the age of 18, she followed her aunt, Mary Lee Davis to Paterson, N. J., where she met her first husband, the late James Charles Chatman and from this union they gave birth to their son, the late Jeffrey Chatman. Later, she met William (Sonny) Gilmore, whom she married and they were blessed to be together 47 years. To this union, two daughters were born, Marci and Pamela.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband and daughters; nine brothers, James (Nettie), Frank (Grace), Charles (Robina), John (Layvonne), Mallie (Dorthenia), Charlie (Deborah), Randolph (Rosemary, Michael (Barbara) and Ronald (Cynthia) Richardson; four sisters, Barbara Davis, Vernetta (Henry) Edwards, Edna James and Lucille Myers; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held 12:00 noon, Thursday, July 5, 2012 from the Madison Avenue Christian Reformed Church, Paterson, N. J. with the Rev. Dr. John Algera, pastor, eulogist. Entombment in the Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa, N. J.
