Robert Melton, Jr.

Robert Melton, Jr., 56,  husband of Nether Lewis Melton., departed this life on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter.  Born in Sumter on January 11, 1956, he was the son of the late Robert Melton, Sr. and Minister Martha McFadden Melton. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter and Lee County. At the age of four, he became a member of St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Nether Lewis Melton.  On August 3, 2012, they would have celebrated 38 years of marriage.  This union was blessed with three beautiful daughters.

His memories will be cherished by: his wife, Nether Lewis Melton;  three daughters,  Terri (Harry) Green of Camden, Sonya Melton and Jennifer (Eric) Richardson of Rembert:  three grandchildren, Miyosha McCloud,  JaVonte’ McCloud and Savarious McCants of Rembert;  one god granddaughter, Chadre McCloud of Sumter; a loving mother-in-law, Lois Lewis; four brothers-in-law;  two sisters-in-law; four uncles; nine aunts;  two special friends, James Jennrett and William Davis, Sr.; a host of nieces and nephews-in-law,  loving cousins, and other friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p. m., Thursday, August 2, 2012 from the St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church, 129 1/2 West Moore Street,  Sumter, with Elder Barrington Pierson, pastor, eulogist,  Elder Walter Hamilton, presiding,  assisted by  Minister Viola Linton, Minister Timothy Vaughn, Minister Rosa Muldrow and Pastor Edmund Johnson.

The family will receive friends at the home 44 Melton Lane, Sumter.

The Remains will be placed in the church at 2:00 p. m.

The funeral procession will leave 2:30 p. m. from the home.

Floral bearers will be cousins and friends.

Pall bearers will be Brotherhood of St. Paul.

Burial will be the St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, Martin Town Road, Sumter.
