Inez Jacobs Brunson

Inez Jacobs Brunson, 85, answered her call to her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at McCoy Memorial Nursing Center, Bishopville.  Born in Darlington County, she was the daughter of the late Hughie Jacobs and Ida Rogers Jacobs and the wife of the late Henry Jacob Brunson.

Nell was a member of the Saint Mark Missionary Baptist church since her marriage to Mr. Jake, where she served as  a missionary for many years and later sang with the gospel choir.  After years of caring for her ill husband and his passing, she was a member of the senior choir for a period of time.

“Nell” or “Mrs. Iness”, as she was called by many, had a love for flowers, gardening and raising chickens. Her mottos were “Put your trust in the Lord and thank Him no matter how the day was” and “Take the Lord with you wherever you go”.  Her favorite chapters from the Bible were Psalm 23 and Psalm 121 and her favorite song was “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”.  

Loving  memories  will be cherished by:  her devoted daughter, Ruth B. McDonald;  a devoted grandson, Terence Demetrius  McDonald (Khadija Ann); two great grandsons, Kha’sem Jiervon and Dargan Demetrius McDonald; two step great granddaughters, Dedrae Wilson and Khabrea Green;  also raised in the home was Leo Johnson (Sheila)  and their son, Randy, of Palm Bay, FLA; sisters-in-law, Essie B. Gray of Richmond, VA, Lucille W. Brunson of Jersey City, N. J., Minnie B. Spirles of Sumter,  Rosa L. Brunson of St. Charles, Barbara B. Riley of Winnsboro,  Chris B. Deloach of Beaufort, Queen E. Brunson of Philadelphia, PA, Lucinda Brunson of Vienn, VA,  Rosa H. Brunson of St. Charles and Lizzie R. Jacobs of Hartsville;  brothers-in-law, Hermon Gray, Sr. of Richmond, VA,  William D. Spirles of Sumter, Otis Deloach of the  United States Merchant Marine; a host of nieces, nephews,  and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Monday, September 24, 2012  at  the Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church,  510 Manville-Wisacky Road, Bishopville,  with the  Rev. Darren P. Dixon, M. Div., pastor, eulogist, assisted by the Rev. R. L. Williams and the Rev. A. Jacobs.  

The family will receive friends at the family home, 1723 Raccoon Road, Mayesville.

The Remains will be placed in the church at noon.

The procession will leave from the family home at 12:30 p. m.

Flower bearers will be Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church Ushers.

Pall bearers will be Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church Men’s Auxiliary.

Burial will be in the Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church Yard Cemetery.
