Gladys McLeod

Gladys McLeod,  77, departed this earthly life on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Lake Marion Nursing Facility, Summerton.  Born in Sumter County on September 24, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Murray McLeod and Annie Mae Deas McLeod.

She was known for her gracious smile and generosity.  Gladys loved spending time with her family and friends.  She showed much love and adoration for everyone she came in contact with.  She would give her last to anyone that asked of her.  Her hugs and kisses were always warm, loving and welcome.  Gladys was loved and will be missed by many. She spent her last hours in Lake Marion Nursing Facility, Summerton, where she received much care and attention.

Gladys was the fourth eldest of nine children.  She leaves to cherish her precious memories: an aunt, Cornelia Razor, whom helped raise her;  a sister, Alice McLeod;  her youngest brother, Emmette (Ellie) McLeod; three grandchildren, James Clapps, Sabrina Martin, and Devin Martin; two beautiful  great granddaughters, Miesha and Saniyah Maple;  one great grand son, Cedric “CJ” Moody, Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews,  other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her two sons, Peter and Patrick McLeod;  four brothers, Jimmy McDaniel, Roscoe McLeod, Frank McLeod and Thomas (Pooster) McLeod;  two sisters, Carrie (Nanie) Archer and her youngest sister, Clara Gathers.

Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p. m., Saturday, March 16, 2013 from the  John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc.,  821 North Main Street,   Sumter, with the Reverend Lillian Reynolds, officiating.
