Franklin R. Myers

Franklin R. “Pummy” Myers, 85, transition from earth to heaven on Friday, November 15, 2013,  at Agape Hospice House of  the Midland, Columbia.  Born on June 27, 1928, in Lee County, he was the son of  the late Mary Myers.  Franklin attended the public schools of Lee County.  At an early age he gave his life to Jesus Christ and joined Unionville A. M. E. Church, where in June 2007, he was presented “The Senior Man of The Year Award” in appreciation and for dedication of services.

He was married to the late Janie McMillan Myers.  To this union eight children were born.

 He leaves to cherish his memories:  four daughters, Lillie Boatwright of Columbia,  Mary Upton (Bruce) of Sweetwater, TN, Janie Gregg and Catherine Myers, both of Mayesville;  a step  daughter, Flossie Gaile of Hampton, VA;  two sons, Willie Myers (Jessie) of Mayesville, Thomas Myers (Elissa) of Sumter;  one brother, Robert Wilson of North Carolina;  a  host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and  friends.  He was blessed to have seen and lived with at times five generations.

He was preceded in death by two sons, an infant and Frank Myers, Jr.; two sisters and six brothers.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon, Thursday, November 21, 2013 from the Unionville AME Church, 1330 Swimming Pen Road, Mayesville, with  the Rev. Alvin E. Webb, pastor,  eulogist, the Rev. Dr. Robert Myers, presiding, assisted by the Rev. Joshua Dupree, Pastor Jewel Pauling, and Bishop Tommie L. Doe.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the home of his son, Willie Myers,  154 Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Road,  Mayesville.

The Remains will be placed in the church at 11:00 a. m.

The funeral possession will leave the home of his son at 11:30 a. m.

Floral bearers will be grand daughters and great grand daughters.

Pall bearers will be grand sons and great grand sons.

Burial will be in the Unionville A. M. E. Church Yard Cemetery, Mayesville.
