John H Choice, Jr.

John Henry Choice, Jr.,  73,  departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the JSM Burn Center, Augusta, GA.  Born May 27, 1940, in Sumter,  he was the son of the late John Henry Choice, Sr. and Sallie Gathers Choice.

“Junior”, as he was affectionately known, attended the public schools of Sumter County.  At an early age he was converted and joined Wayman Chapel AME Church.  During his earlier years he was employed at Parkman 66 Service Station as an auto mechanic;  Plowden Construction as a construction worker, and later at Shaw Air Force Base as a heavy machine operator, where he was well known and loved.

He leaves to cherish precious memories:  two sons,  Henry Lee Choice of Sumter and James Franklin Choice of Camden;  two daughters, Betty Jean Choice and Doris (Felix) Workman, both of Rembert; four sisters, Louise Hunter of Vineland, NJ, Albertha Hales and Amelia Wiley of Wedgefield, and Catherine Choice (a niece raised as a sister) of Sumter;  fifteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law;  one son-in-law; five sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law;    a  host of  nieces, nephews, other relatives and  friends.

In additional to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sallie Mae Choice, and two infant children.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p. m., Thursday, November 21, 2013 from the Wayman Chapel AME Church,  160 North Kings Highway, (Highway 261 North) Sumter, with  the Rev. Laddie N. Howard,  pastor, eulogist, assisted the Rev. Charlie Howard.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the home of his daughter,  Doris Choice Workman, 4630 Ellerbe Mill Road,  Rembert.

The Remains will be placed in the Church at 2:00 p.m.

Funeral procession will leave from the home of his daughter at 2:30 p. m.  

Floral bearers and Pall bearers will be family and friends.

Burial will be in the Wayman Chapel AME Church Yard Cemetery, Sumter.
