Vance Louise “Weez’ Young Roberson, 85, took her heavenly flight on Friday, March 27, 2015 at her home. Born February 17, 1930, in Greensboro, NC, she was the daughter of the late Vance Young and Elise Gardner Williams. She was educated in Richmond, VA and the public schools of Sumter County. She moved to Perth Amboy, NJ, where she became a nursing assistant and worked at Perth Amboy General Hospital for several years. Later she moved back to Sumter and worked for Cypress Nursing Home until her health declined. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rafting Creek Baptist Church. While living in New Jersey, she was a member of Second Baptist Church. Upon returning to Sumter, she reinstated her membership at Rafting Creek Baptist Church, Rembert, where she sang on the Senior Choir until she moved to Columbia. Louise loved cooking, entertaining others and making people laugh. Louise was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Marion “Robert” Roberson and to this union five children were born. She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Brenda (Tyrone) Hunter of Columbia; one son, Arthur Bolden; four grandsons; three granddaughters; nine great grandchildren; two nephews; four nieces; a special aunt, Sarah Gardner; a very close friend-cousin, Wilhelmina “Florine” Alston; a host of other cousins, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Ray Young, Sr.; her children, Lease Peterson, Marlene Roberson Scott and Wayne Roberson; a grandson, Rodney Lake, and a great granddaughter, Jayla Roberson. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Thursday, April 2, 2015 from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Sharyn Boyd, officiating, eulogist, assisted by the Rev. Henry Boyd. The family is receiving family and friends at the home of her daughter, Brenda Roberson Hunter, 1708 Marley Drive, Columbia. The procession will leave from the home of her daughter at noon.
