Carrie Malinda Williams, 58, affectionately known as “Linda” and “Te-Te”, departed this life on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at her residence in Sumter. Born on February 21, 1957, in Sumter County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Elijah Williams, Sr. and Dorothy B. Williams Waiters. Linda accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church, Sumter, where she was a member of the youth choir and usher board. She later united with New Fellowship Baptist Church, where she served on the hospitality committee. She was educated in the South Carolina public school system for her primary years and later relocated to the Bronx, New York, where she completed her secondary education. At the time of her passing, Carrie was employed as lead receptionist and hospitality coordinator at Covenant Place of Sumter Assisted Living Facility. Precious memories of her life living will be cherished by: her children, Delicia Q. Loney (Jonathan), Raphael (Ralphie) Gonzalez, Terrence Williams, LaTasha Williams, Thomas “T. J.” White; Terrell Williams (LaShonda); siblings, Marvin D. Williams, Shirley Williams, Sharon W. Wright Footman, (Joseph), Doris V. Waiters; aunts, Georgia Mae Josey, Shirley Williams, Avery Williams, Hazel Murriell; nine grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends. She also leaves behind her longtime special friend, companion and recent caregiver, Thomas White, Sr. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m., Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the New Fellowship Baptist Church, 105 Purdy Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Dale E. Edwards, pastor, eulogist, assisted by the Rev. Ruth Maple Oliver, Minister Claudia Harvin and Minister Priscilla Loney. The family is receiving family and friends at her home, 4224 Hickory Road, Sumter. A wake service will be held 6:00 – 7:00 p. m., Friday in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter. The Remains will be placed in the church at 1:00 p. m. The procession will leave from her home at 1:15 p. m. Floral bearers and Pall bearers will be family and friends. Burial will be in the Walker Cemetery, Oakland Avenue, Sumter.
