Lila Mae McCoy, 85, widow of Ernest McCoy, Sr., passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital, Columbia. Born, May 2, 1930, in Greelyville, she was the daughter of the late Pearl Edward Singleton and Mary Hilton. She was raised by her grandmother, Rebecca Hilton. She attended and graduated from the Williamsburg County School System. Upon graduation, she moved to Charleston, then to Atlanta, GA., and later to Miami, FLA. Lila Mae lived her golden senior years with her son and family in Riverdale, GA until July 2015, when she moved to the McElveen Senior Assisted Living Facility in Sumter. She leaves to cherish: a son, Ernest McCoy, Jr. (Patricia); three grandsons, Ernest Antwan McCoy, Dwayne and Celester McKinney; her sister, Virginia (Minna) Canty; one aunt, Julia Anchrum; brothers-in-law, George and Douglas McCoy; sisters-in-law, Francis Branch, Lourine Carlyle, Louise Clark, Deloris and Carrie Singleton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Friday, December 4, 2015 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Tommie Farr, Officiating, Eulogist. Floral bearers and Pall bearers will be friends of the family. Burial will be in the Union Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Garfield, Georgia.
