Lawrence Butler, Jr., 61, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 3, 2019 in Rockville, MD. Born in Sumter County, July 9, 1957, he was the son of the demised Lawrence Butler, Sr. and Martha Mack Butler of Dalzell. Lawrence was baptized at an early age at the Grant Hill Missionary Baptist, Rembert. He was a 1977 graduate of Hillcrest High School. He enlisted in the military shortly after High School and upon retiring from the United States Army after serving 20 years he lived in Fall Church, Virginia, where he was affiliated with several churches. He received several awards and recognitions as he served his Country. He was later employed at Artel Inc. in Reston, VA from 1998 – 2011 and Three Links Technologies, Inc. in Silver Springs, MD from 2011 to 2019. He is survived by his mother, Martha Mack Butler of Dalzell; four brothers, Leroy of Rembert, Jerry of Dalzell, Eddie (Martha) of Winter Haven, FLA, Wesley (Connie) of Myrtle Beach; two sisters, Mable of Dalzell, Rosemary of Sumter; a cousin reared in the home as a sister, Liz Taylor of Woodrow; one uncle, Jasper Mack (Estell) of Dalzell; four aunts, Marie Davis, Mary (Hayward) Jacob, Bernice Anderson, all of Sumter, Mary Anderson of Dalzell; a special aunt, Azalie Williams of East Orange, NJ; a grand uncle, Clifton Mack of Philadelphia, PA; a grand aunt, Lourine Glover Mack of Dalzell; several nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends. The family received relatives and friends at the home of his sister, 4760 Cannery Road, Dalzell. Private Celebration of Life services were held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 1 p. m. from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Elder Clarence McCall, officiating, eulogist.
